More weather warnings have been issued as Storm Ciarán tracks towards Ireland.

Status yellow rain warnings are in place today for Kerry and the North. Localised flooding, poor visibility and difficult travel conditions are expected in those areas for much of the day and tomorrow morning.

More status yellow wind and rain alerts are coming into effect tomorrow for eight counties along the west, south and east coasts.

Here's how the weather forecast is looking for the rest of the week:

Today (Tuesday)

Rain will continue in Ulster with localised flooding. It's set to be drier elsewhere but rain in southwest Munster will spread northeastwards through the afternoon and evening with a chance of spot flooding. It'll be a wet night with widespread rain and spot flooding possible. Lows of 7 degrees.

Wednesday

Wednesday will start off dull with rain and showers in many areas. It'll be quite blustery for a time with fresh to strong and gusty westerly winds. The rain will gradually clear northwards through the day, with winds easing also. Sunshine and scattered showers will follow in parts with highs of 12 degrees. On Wednesday night, Storm Ciaran will track close to the south coast of Ireland. Heavy rain is expected mainly over Munster and Leinster with some flooding likely. Fresh to strong and gusty winds will be strongest in Munster and Leinster too. Lows of 3 degrees, coldest in Ulster.

Thursday

Thursday will start off wet and windy, especially in the east and south. The rain will clear with brighter weather following. There'll be sunshine and scattered showers during the day with highs of 11 degrees. Thursday night will be breezy with a mix of clear spells and showers. Lows of 6 to 9 degrees.

Friday

Friday will be a bright, breezy day with sunny spells and scattered showers. On Friday night, it'll start largely dry with clear spells with lows of 4 degrees . Later in the night rain will develop in the southwest and spread across Munster.
