Advisory weather warnings are in place for 26 counties ahead of the arrival of Storm Atiyah to Ireland on Sunday.
An orange warning is in place for counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Kerry, Limerick from 9am on Sunday morning to 6am on Monday.
Met Éireann says Storm Atiyah will track between Iceland and Ireland on Sunday, bringing very strong winds and powerful gusts.
The national forecaster said southwesterly winds, later turning northwesterly will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80 km/h with gusts from 110 to 130km/h in the above mentioned counties.
There is also a possibility of coastal flooding due to a combination of high seas and storm surge.
Meanwhile a wind warning is also in place for all of Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford where winds are expected to reach mean speeds of 50 to 60 km/h with gusts of up to 100 km/h.
