Irish Red Cross Secretary General Liam O’Dwyer said they are "so grateful and humbled at the huge generosity shown".

He added, "The humanitarian needs over the coming days and weeks will be massive."

Anyone who'd like to donate can do so on the website, redcross.ie or on Revolut.

The latest from the Ukraine invasion (last updated 10:30am)

Ukraine's president has declined an offer from Russia to hold peace talks in Belarus.

However, says he's open to talks in other locations.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy says discussions "could have been possible" if troops hadn't invaded from Belarusian territory.

Fighting has begun on the streets of Kharkiv after Russian soldiers entered Ukraine's second-largest city.

The United Nations has said at least 64 people have died since the Kremlin's invasion began on Thursday, and at least 240 civilians have been injured.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs Minister says the government plans to shut Irish airspace to all Russian aircraft.

Simon Coveney says Ireland also supports new sanctions, ahead of a meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers later.

They're expected to include plans for EU States to expel Russian diplomats.

It comes as pressure grows for the Russian Ambassador to be expelled from Ireland, with 35 Fianna Fail TD's and Senators the latest to urge action.
