The Irish Farmers' Association says marauding dogs are causing massive problems during the current lambing season.

Up to 4,000 sheep are injured and killed annually in dog attacks, but they cause even more damage at this time of year.

The IFA's Sheep Chairman, Sean Dennehy, says that owners, who allow their dogs to roam, are reckless and selfish:

"Our biggest concern at the moment is that we have 34,000 sheep farmers lambing 2.6 million ewes at the moment.

Ewes are heavy in lamb, and all over the country, we're getting reports of sheep being killed by dogs, because people aren't keeping their dogs under control."
