Up to 50 vegan animal rights activists have occupied a pig farm in County Westmeath.

They are staging a peaceful protest over what they claim is legalised violence and murder against 'non-humans'.

The animal welfare activists say today's demonstration is not against any particular farm or farmer - but about the animal trade in general.

Gardaí are also maintaining a presence at today's protest.
