Ireland is tipped to expect a baby boom next year after the hottest summer in decades.

Experts believe we'll see a high birth rate from next spring due to two things.

A scientific study has found that increased exposure to sunlight boosts the likelihood of a woman becoming pregnant by a third.

While separate research shows sunshine increases the levels of serotonin, the mood-enhancing hormone, in both men and women.

So basically, we were all a bit friskier during the summer and the sun makes us more fertile.
