Plastic bottles could be a thing of the past at Glastonbury music festival.

Co-organiser Emily Eavis, daughter of festival founder Michael Eavis has told BBC 6 Music: “We’re working on banning plastic bottles… which is an enormous project and it’s taking a lot of time to tackle it with all the different people we work with."

She has labelled it as "the big project for '18", aiming to be plastic free at the next event in 2019 as there is no festival planned for this summer.

Earlier this week the BBC announced a ban on single-use plastics within their corporation which is due to come into play by 2020.
