"Signficant" snowfall on the way for many parts of the country

We're being urged to wrap up warm and be extra vigilant on the roads tonight.

Met Éireann's issued a status orange snow and ice warning for 13 counties.

It's in place from 11pm tonight until 11pm on Sunday, December 10th.

Significant snowfall is expected in Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow and Tipperary.

Temperatures will plunge to minus 5, and there's a warning about treacherous roads and slippery paths due to a build-up of snow and ice.

Meanwhile, there's a status yellow wind warning in place for counties Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford, and a status yellow rainfall warning for Wexford, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford.
