Batten down the hatches!

Two counties have received a status Orange weather warning for strong winds.

The warning is active in Mayo and Donegal between Friday morning at 1am until Friday December 7th at 8am.

Meanwhile, all Irish coastal waters can expect gale force winds throughout the day and possibly carrying on into Friday.

Not only that, but some parts of the country will experience "storm force 10" winds.

According to Met Éireann, there will be "southwest gales or strong gales later today and tonight on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea".

"Winds will reach storm force on coasts from Erris Head to Malin Head to Belfast Lough", they added.
