Met Eireann’s orange alert for Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo and Clare will remain in place until 5pm this evening.

Strong winds continue to batter the coastal counties, as Storm Callum passes Ireland.

The rest of the weekend looks pretty wet and miserable to be honest.

Rain's due to move in across the south and east later in the night, and this will extend countrywide by Saturday morning.

Met Éireann say this will turn heavy and persistent with spot flooding possible.

Saturday's looking cloudy and wet across the bulk of the country, with outbreaks of rain.

It's expected further heavy bursts of rain will extend from the west tomorrow evening.

Temperatures will be cool tomorrow, maximum 10-13 degrees.

Sunday morning's looking dry - thank heavens, with a lot of sunshine due.

But, that's too good to be true for October, correct? Correct. Scattered showers will develop in the afternoon with temperatures of 11 or 12 degrees expected.
