And you could get to name them!

Dublin Zoo has welcomed two baby tigers.

The two female Amur tiger cubs were born to first-time parents Tundra and Ussuri on October 14th.  This weekend, visitors can catch a glimpse of them for the first time at the tiger habitat in the zoo.

“The cubs are doing extremely well” says Team Leader at Dublin Zoo, Ciaran McMahon.

“Both cubs are very playful and energetic, just like their mother! The cubs have fun chasing each other and play-fighting which helps keep their claws sharp, while Tundra makes sure to clean them up straight afterwards, just like any good parent would.”

Amur tigers are an endangered species, with only about 500 of them believed to be living in the wild. Dublin Zoo is hoping their two young additions will later become part of an international breeding programme to help tackle the low population numbers.

The zoo is also calling on the public to help name the brand new cubs. They're looking for names based on the tigers Russian origins and you can submit yours over on their website.

They're also holding tiger-themed activities this Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th January. The cubs will also be available to view at the zoo this weekend from 11:15am until 3pm each day.
