The man who was aged in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene after the car he was driving hit another vehicle on the R169 in Collon just after midday yesterday.
A couple aged in their 60's and 70's who were in the other car were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.
A post mortem will now take place and Gardai are asking anyone with camera footage of the incident to help them in their investigation.
