Three arrested after theft of ATMs and cars set alight in Co. Louth

Three men have been arrested by police in the North after two ATMs were stolen in Co. Louth.

The cash machines were taken from Ulster Bank and AIB branches in the main street area of Dundalk at around 3.15am.

The raiders also set two cars on fire outside Dundalk Garda Station to try and stop Gardai responding to the robbery.

They were later discovered by Gardai but made their getaway across the border to South Armagh following a chase.

Two Garda cars sustained minor damage in the incident however no one was injured.

Three men, aged 24, 29, 57 were later arrested by the PSNI in the Crossmaglen area on suspicion of handling stolen property.

Two ATMs were also recovered in the back of a discarded trailer in the Mullabawn area, although it's unclear at this stage if both are intact.
