A study has found Budapest is the cheapest place to drink beer in Europe.

A pint will set you back €1.24 in the Hungarian capital.

That compares with Bergen in Norway - the most expensive place to enjoy a beer - costing €7.81 per pint.

James Hickman, from FairFX which is behind the findings, says it's down to variations in exchange rates:

"If, for example, you take Turkey. A year ago actually a pint of beer would be 39 per cent more expensive.

Because the pound has improved against the Turkish lira, it's made a pint of beer that bit cheaper."

Meanwhile, the 2019 European Beer Index suggests Dublin is home to the 12th priciest beer.
