
A card payment company has apologised after an outage affected card sales across the country.
Issues with sale terminals were reported at lunchtime yesterday and persisted into the evening.
Retailers such as SuperValu and Centra reported problems with customers unable to buy items using their debit cards.
A spokesperson for Opayo confirmed a technical issue was discovered with the system and teams were working to restore normal service.
We experienced a service disruption yesterday which impacted transactions. We apologise to our customers for the disruptions this caused. We take this matter seriously and are working to understand what steps may be taken to help prevent this from happening in the future.
