Gardaí were called to a three-car crash at Derrygarra Lower, Butlersbridge at around 5.20am this morning.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other women, one in her 30s and the other in her 50s were taken to Cavan General Hospital.
Their injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.
The road is closed for a technical examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the collision to come forward and contact them.
