(Source: www.pexels.com)Junior Minister Ossian Smyth has outlined how people will be able to apply for the Digital COVID certificate, in order to travel abroad.
People will need to get in touch with either the laboratory that conducted their test or the HSE to confirm they have been either been vaccinated against COVID-19 or have had the virus and recovered from it.
Ossian Smyth says there will be a number of ways to apply for and access the Digital COVID certificate:
"In the case of a test certificate, you go to an accredited laboratory and they send your certificate to you, so you give your email address at the time and it comes to you, and you choose whether you want it on paper or on your phone.
"How do you apply for a vaccination certificate or a recovery certificate? The HSE will email you or contact you and you can opt to download it from there."
Advice on travel
It comes as Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has said the government's advice on travelling abroad for younger people will differ to what the Chief Medical Officer is recommending.
Dr. Tony Holohan has urged people not to travel anywhere unless they are fully vaccinated.
Leo Varadkar has said while he understands where Dr. Holohan is coming from, people can go on foreign trips as long as they provide evidence of a negative PCR test when coming back to Ireland.
