The Social Democrats says the latest controversy surrounding another minister's rental property, raises questions about how seriously the government takes rental regulations.
Stephen Donnelly this morning to clarified the late registration of a rental property and says he's not considering his position as Health Minister
The Health Minister blamed an oversight for failing to register a property with the RTB since 2019 - and says it's now registered since last week.
There's been a renewed focus on landlord TDs, following the resignation of Robert Troy as Junior Minister last week over controversy around his 11 properties.
Social Democrats Housing Spokesperson, Cian O'Callaghan, says TDs and Ministers need to be able to follow the same rules as everyone else:
"I think this is a huge slap in the face for the tens of thousands of landlords who do everything by the book - register with the RTB, follow all the laws, all the regulations and now they know that a government minister hasn't done this - it's not conceivable that he simply forgot. He would have been getting the rental income from it.
So it raises a question, not just with Minister Donnelly, do they take this seriously at all?"
