Galway centre among the highest driving test pass rates

Carnmore test centre in Galway had the second highest pass rate last year at nearly 68 per cent.

Ballincollig test centre in Cork had a pass rate of 75 per cent which was the highest in the country.

Three other centres had rates above 64 per cent - one in Birr, Co Offaly; Clifden, Co Galway; and O'Loughlin Gaels in Kilkenny.

The average pass rate across all centres last year was 53 per cent, meaning just over one in two people who sat the test in 2022, passed.

Two centres with the lowest pass rates were in Dublin - one in Mulhuddart, at 38 per cent, and Charlestown, at 39 per cent.

Editor of CompleteCar-dot-ie, Shane O'Donoghue, says there's a huge variation:

'Some of the test centres in bigger urban areas seem to have a lower pass rate, where as those in a rural area or smaller populations seem to have a higher pass rate, and I wonder is it just easier to pass in some areas than other.'
