The number of pupils enrolled in Catholic schools has dropped

Enrolments in multi-denominational schools have increased by 4 per cent since last year, while the number of pupils enrolled in Catholic schools has dropped slightly.

There are now almost 931 thousand children enrolled in the country's primary and secondary schools, which is over 8 thousand more students than last year.

The Department of Education says over the past decade the number of multi-denominational schools has risen by almost 10 per cent to 352.

Almost a quarter of primary schools have less than 60 students enrolled for the 2019 academic year.
