Residents living close to Dublin Airport say passengers are ditching their cars in local estates for weeks on end.
It comes as the airport heads in to it’s busiest weekend since before Covid hit.
A quick search shows a week’s parking at Dublin Airport will cost you between 95 and 165 euro - leading some people to abandon their cars in nearby housing estates like the one here in Swords.
Local councillor Joe Newman says it’s not a new problem;
"With the charges, the way they're going at the Airport, they're exorbitant and people not being able to drop off doesn't help the situation."
It comes as 51-thousand people jet off from the airport today with over 200-thousand expected to depart between today and Monday, making it the busiest weekend since before the pandemic.
Spokesperson for the DAA, Graeme McQueen, says most people were getting through security within half an hour during the busiest period this morning;
"We've hit the target as to the number of security officers we were looking to have in place by the end of June, but we're not going to stop there, we're going to hire an additional 100 security officers."
He also says extra staff are being brought in to deal with problems with cleanliness after pictures of rubbish and overflowing bins have been posted online.
