Passengers at Dublin Airport could face delays this summer after Dublin Airport Authority revealed it cannot afford to employ additional staff this summer.
The staff are needed to deal with security queues and cleaning.
Last summer they were significant delays at the airport, due to staff shortages.
Editor of Air and Travel magazine, Eoghan Corry, says its all down to money:
"Dublin Airport wants to charge more per passenger than they're allowed. They're looking for about a 13 or 14 euro per passenger charge."
"The Commission of Aviation Regulation, who look after these things have told them that this year they're only allowed to charge €8.50."
Meanwile, he says, the DAA's chairman has written to the regulator:
"Saying 'how do you expect us to staff up our security? How do you expect us to offer the service for passengers when we're not allowed to charge enough?'"
Although, the DAA has dismissed claims of possible delays.
It says it is currently in the process of hiring hundreds of new staff which will allow the authority to meet the demand expected at the airport this summer.
The DAA also hit out at passenger charges set by the Commission for Aviation Regulation, claiming they are bad news for passengers and airlines.
The DAA says charges need to be set at a level which allows Dublin Airport to run a resilient operation and give passengers the quality service they deserve and expect.
