Dublin Zoo has found 17 of the allegations made against it by an anonymous whistle-blower were considered to be "unfounded with no evidence supplied to support the narrative of the allegation".

Two were found to have "no basis or evidence to even substantiate the allegation", while three were classed as "some evidence was found supporting a historical allegation, but Dublin Zoo had already resolved the case".

Many of the claims related to animal welfare and a lack of transparency, which was raised in the Seanad last July.

It led to the National Parks and Wildlife Service carrying out an investigation into the 23 allegations made.

One claim regarding the Red Panda habitat was "considered to be supported", but management at the zoo says it's not a concern, and the investigators say that's justifiable.
