A fifth energy credit since the start of last year will be considered later in 2023.

A fourth 200 euro credit on electricity bills is being paid this month to help with the rising cost of energy.

It was announced in Budget 2023 that domestic electricity customers will get €600 credit to help reduce electricity bills.

In the government's latest cost of living package, there was no further credits announced.

Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe says they will look at it in the future:

"We're continuing to have the lower rate of VAT on gas and electricity of 9%."

"The Government will actually have another energy credit coming out across this month and next."

"We will consider whether a further energy credit is needed in the context of the budget."

When will the latest credit be paid?

The date you get your credit depends on the date that your supplier normally sends you your bill.

The credit may not appear on your first bill during these payment periods, this depends on your individual billing cycle.

Suppliers will have information on their websites with the exact dates the credit will show on customers’ bills.
