The FAI’s Executive Lead Paul Cooke has admitted the Association’s financial situation is “very serious”, with liquidation a possibility.

He was speaking today at the FAI’s reconvened AGM at Citywest Hotel in Dublin.

Delegates gathered for the FAI’s reconvened AGM today to hear details of the Association’s financial statements.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the FAI has current net liabilities of more than 60 million Euro, with confirmation today at a heated AGM that losses on top of that of up to €4 million are expected for 2019.

It was confirmed that a financial rescue package of 18 million euro has been requested from the government, with Executive Lead Paul Cooke saying their financial situation is “very serious”.

He admitted there’s a possibility of examinership or liquidation, should the association’s debts be called in immediately.
