Gardaí have missed over 8,600 days of work due to mental health issues since the start of last year.
According to Freedom Of Information files, the sick leave has been taken by 84 officers.
37 Gardaí have taken sickness absence due to mental illness, such as stress and anxiety, so far this year.
They've missed a total of over 3,400 days' work as a result.
Last year 47 officers were out of work due to similar issues - and they missed over 5,200 days.
Over the two years, 447 Gardaí have had psychiatric or psychological assessments with the Garda Occupational Health Service.
An Garda Siochána says the welfare of all its staff is of paramount importance.
It says it has a 24/7 independent counselling service for Garda members.
