Some 3,000 police officers have carried out raids across Germany to stop an alleged plot by a far-right terrorist group to overthrow the government.
Prosecutors say 25 suspects were detained during the raids in 11 of the country's 16 states early this morning.
A 71-year-old nicknamed Prince Heinrich XIII was among those arrested, and it's thought the group planned to install him as Germany's new leader.
German reports allege they planned to storm the parliament building and seize power.
Wild, this: early this morning 3,000 police officers raided 130+ homes across Germany and made 25 arrests linked to a far-right coup plot. Conspirators said to include the aristocrat Prince Heinrich XIII, a former AfD MP & a former Bundeswehr commander.https://t.co/rorZabxUik

The New York Times reports the group’s plans "included an armed attack on the German Parliament building, known as the Reichstag".
It's also reported memebers had organised arms training and tried to recruit personnel from the German security services.
Germany said it found 327 cases of far-right extremists among the police, military and intelligence services within 3 years, according to a report earlier this year.
Think about how serious a far-right coup plot could have been.
