Footage of a house party over the weekend emerged online.

A Councillor has slammed footage of people attending a busy house party in Blanchardstown over the weekend.

The footage, which emerged online, apparently shows people ignoring social distancing rules during and drinking at a busy street party in Blanchardstown in Dublin over the weekend.

Councillor John Walsh described the behaviour as unacceptable.

''A number of events like this have happened across Dublin, and we shouldn't single out Dublin 15'', he said.

''It's happened across the city and probably across the country, but at the same time parties like this shouldn't be happening - they have to stop in the current environment''.

The video, posted by The Liberal, has also drawn criticism from social media users.

One poster said: “Disgraceful - no respect for all the people that have lost their lives from the virus. Wait until it hits their doors.”

Another said: "Dublin with almost half of the entire country's coronavirus cases and then we see this?

"It's like two fingers up to the rest of us that have sacrificed our normal lives, sacrificed seeing our loved ones and all the rest. Absolute idiots."

Others described the footage as “embarrassing” and "disgraceful”.

One woman simply asked: "Am I the only one cringing watching this?"
