A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the body of Tristan Sherry who was killed during a gun and knife attack at a restaurant in Dublin on Christmas Eve.

Further examinations are also taking place today at Browne's Steakhouse on the Main Street in Blanchardstown where the 26 year old was tackled while carrying out a shooting.

A man in his 40s was shot and is being treated at Connolly Hospital for serious injuries.

The State Pathologist is due to carry out a post-mortem examination today on Mr Sherry who was tackled during the incident and fatally injured.

Gardaí in Blanchardstown are investigating the shooting, which they believe is linked to an ongoing feud between organised crime gangs.

Patrols in the area have been stepped up with support from armed units.

The public are being urged to refrain from sharing footage of the attack and the aftermath of it on social media.
