Now new grocery figures from Kantar show sales of flour and sugar have gone up by 52 per cent and 43 per cent respectively over the past four weeks.
More than half of people in Ireland have bought baking supplies.
An additional €20.6 million was spent online, with 10 per cent of households buying their groceries online.
Alcohol sales have risen by €47 million with wine sales up by 50 per cent year-on-year.
