Minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris announced the news today.

The plan is aimed at getting vaccine rates up in the younger age groups.

Latest figures show only 78 percent of people aged 16 - 29 have been fully vaccinated.

Which is compared to 90 percent of the all adult population.

Minister Simon Harris says the idea is to make it more convenient for students to get their Covid jabs.

It comes as the head of the HSE, Paul Reid, says a "hugely disproportionate" number of people with Covid-19 in ICUs are unvaccinated.

While 66 covid patients are in ICU, which is down seven in the same time period.

New figures show vaccinated people have accounted for 17 percent of ICU admissions since April.

Today, the Department of Health reported a further 1 thousand 456 Covid-19 cases.

While there are 261 covid patients in hospital - that's down 27 in the past 24 hours.
