The Data Protection Commission has questioned the legality of social welfare inspectors collecting people's information at airports.

The watchdog says it has "serious concerns" that all passengers on some flights were being asked for their details when leaving the country.

A Department review has found 85 people who had their pandemic payment cut after travelling abroad may be entitled to it back.

Yesterday the government did a u-turn that means people travelling to green list countries will not lose their social welfare payments.

It came after a huge backlash to the revelation that some people who had gone abroad had their pandemic payment suspended.

People can now travel to green list countries without having their payments stopped, or to places not on that list if it's essential travel.
