The furniture, bedding, electrical and computer retailer Harvey Norman says it is looking to recruit people to work at its new branch at The Gateway Retail Park in Knocknacarra in Galway.

It plans to create between 60 and 100 sales, cashier and admin roles and the shop is due to open in April.

Michael Sloane is the Electrical Store Manager for Harvey Norman Swords and is looking forward to making the move to take on that role in Galway:

"The west side of Galway city is what we feel is a prime location, especially in the expansion of Galway. We're really excited about moving to Galway and getting local people to come join us."

Michael also says there will be opportunities for career progression:

"We love to promote from within the company, develop people up. I started off myself on the sales floor and became an assistant manager and then went on to become a store manager. We do love to retain our staff and keep them within the company"
