Met Éireann says we're in for another cold evening and night.

It has issued a status yellow snow and ice warning has been issued for 11 counties.

The alert will come into effect at 8pm, covering all of Connacht, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Louth and Wicklow.

It will last until 10am tomorrow morning.

Met Éireann says it will be icy across all 11 counties, with some outbreaks of snow expected to fall before morning.

Meanwhile it doesn't look like we'll be getting good weather any time soon.

Storm Denis is making its way to Ireland and is set to batter the country from Friday, while the worst of the weather will be on Sunday.

The national forecaster says we should expect strong winds and a lot of rain and it expects to issue more weather warnings later in the week.

It says it can't confirm at this stage what status those warnings will be.

The UK Met office has released National Severe Weather Warnings for wind and rain ahead of the storm.
