From Tuesday, only 6 per table will be allowed indoors at bars and restaurants.

While nightclubs will be closed.

Indoor events will be limited to half a venue’s capacity.

Those are in place until at least January 9th.

As well as that, households should not host more than three other households in their home.

While the use of the vaccine pass is to be extended to gyms and hotel bars and restaurants.

On the back of those restrictions, as many people will likely lose their jobs again, the PUP is back open.

The Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) is reopening for businesses affected by the latest restrictions.

Those in the hospitality sector also won't have to pay commercial rates until next April.

Today, NPHET are warning there could be 1,700 people in hospital with Covid in early January.

That's if the Omicron variant becomes dominant, and social contact increases to last December's levels.

There are currently 528 patients in hospital - while the five-day moving average of Covid cases is 4,691.
