According to our national forecaster, summer weather is still a while away.

Met Éireann says the unseasonable weather we are experiencing at the minute could be around for a few more weeks.

It is forecasting cool and showery weather for the remainder of June, and possibly into July.

This time last year, temperatures reached highs of 32 degrees but we shouldn't be holding out for a repeat of that at any stage in the near future.

Forecaster Evelyn Cusack has admitted it'll probably be a while before we can head to the beach:

"Normally when you get poor weather like this, or unseasonable weather, it's because the jet stream is down below Ireland and it takes a number of weeks before a high can build up. So if the weather is unsettled in June it can travel into July."
