Ireland facing legal action over turf cutting

Ireland is facing legal action over turf cutting.

The European Commission has referred the country to the EU Court of Justice for failing to protect peat bogs.

The Commission says the sites continue to be degraded through drainage and turf-cutting activities.

It also says insufficient action is being taken to restore them.
