Irish Distillers to start making hand sanitiser for the HSE

The makers of Jameson and Powers whiskey is to start making hand sanitiser for the HSE.

Irish Distillers has partnered with Mervue Laboratories in Cork to provide large scale quantities of alcohol gel.

They began production of the product this week.

Rosemary Garth of Irish Distillers told RTÉ News that they contacted the Department of Health and the HSE and from there, the kicked off operations very quickly:

"We are going to be making our alcohol available at no cost. Mervue Labs will be producing just to cover their costs".

"This will enable us to deliver large scale quantities of hand sanitiser to hospitals and health care professionals, that need it not only now but in the times ahead".
