A heartbreaking video of teenagers rescuing koalas from the bushfires in Australia has gone viral.
The 14-second clip shows the koalas being rescued by 19 year-old Micah and 18 year-old Caleb from Kangaroo Island, south of Adelaide, and being taken to safety in their car.
According to LadBible, roughly half of Kangaroo Island is thought to have been destroyed by the fires and it's estimated more than 20,000 koalas have died.
The video was originally posted to Reddit by a user under the name Steve_OH with the caption:
"Amid the terrible bushfires in Australia, my cousins went out and saved as many koalas as they could. Good on em. Thought reddit would support and appreciate their efforts!"
Micah and Caleb told LadBible that they reckon they saved about 20 koalas. The lads also said they plan to look after the animals until they can return safely to the wild.
The video has struck a chord with people on Reddit with one user commenting:
"They look so terrified and exhausted. The world needs more people like your cousins."
While another said:
"This is great, I feel terrible for all the animals and people who have lost their home."
It's estimated about 2,000 houses have been destroyed in Australia's bushfire crisis and at least 25 people and millions of animals have died since September.
