Education Minister Norma Foley has confirmed this year's Leaving Certificate will be based on exams only and will not adopt any hybrid model.
The Minister said the Department of Education was not in a position to put in place the arrangements from last year's exams.
It's reported an accredited grades process was looked at as a possibility, but wasn't feasible owing to the fact that one in four students had not sat Junior Cycle exams .
It's the first time since 2019 that the state exams will proceed in their usual format.
Minister Foley also said that this years papers will have some more options and fewer overall questions, while there'll also be some changes for oral exams - One of them being a drop from 20 srathpictuir down to 10 in Irish.
The Junior Cert will also proceed in the form of written exams this year.
The Leaving Cert will go ahead in June with 'considerable choice' and 'less content required to be studied', Minister for Education Norma Foley has said.
