The Irish Times is reporting this evening that students who are unhappy with their mark, they will be given the opportunity to sit an exam early in 2021.
The proposal is due to be brought before Cabinet tomorrow.
Earlier today, the Taoiseach said there would be clarity on the issue before the end of this week.
The news comes as over 26,000 people have signed a petition online to cancel this year's Leaving Cert.
