Leaving and Junior cert exams begin today.
More than 131 thousand students will begin their Leaving Certificate, Applied and Junior Cycle examinations this morning.
This year marks the full return of externally delivered examinations for all candidates since the year before the covid pandemic.
The numbers expected to sit exams this year has increased by 6 percent compared to the last time a full set of examinations was run in 2019.
The HSE is urging to students to remember the importance of sleep, diet, and downtime during this stressful period.
Education Minister Norma Foley says students today have greater opportunities and choices to continue their education after the Leaving Certificate.
'Exam time is always a stressful time but again I would say to the students you have done the work believe in yourselves now, this is just an opportunity to showcase all you have learned and equally so, I would say to leaving cert students, remember now they're are so many different avenues and pathways forward for you.'
