Delays were reported to rail services between Athlone and Westport earlier today.
It's after a car crashed through level crossing barriers at Knochcroghery before leaving the scene.
Iarnród Éireann has described the actions of the driver as 'dangerous and reckless' after a train had been cleared to process through the crossing prior to the incident.
They're asking for anyone with information to contact Gardaí.
