A man and a woman have died in a car crash after failing to stop for Gardaí in Co. Dublin.

GSOC is conducting an examination following the collision on Butterfield Avenue in Templeogue at around half past 1 this morning.

The nature in which the car was driving drew the attention of Gardai.

A patrol car pulled up alongside the vehicle at a set of traffic lights, and it sped off.

Gardaí indicated for the car to pull over, but it failed to do so.

The driver lost control, and crashed into a lamppost.

Local Cllr. Pamela Kearns says the area wouldn't be considered a dangerous area to drive.

The driver is described as having a bad driving history, and may be a disqualified driver.

The vehicle was not stolen but wasn't registered in the name of the man who was driving it.
