The UK is to announce it this week.

A new British law around the Northern Ireland Protocol is set to remove all customs checks.

The Business Post reports it'd allow companies in the North to choose to follow either UK or EU regulations.

EU politicians, including the Foreign affairs Minister, have repeatedly stated changes to the protocol would break international law.

However, the UK Government has denied this will be the case.

Sinn Fein President Mary Lou McDonald says the protocol is working and these changes would set a dangerous precedent.

"What the Tory Government is proposing to do, in breaching international law, is to create huge damage to the northern economy and the Irish economy," McDonald says.

"They propose to breach international law and they are on an agenda of attacking and damaging the Good Friday Agreement."

Meanwhile, Sinn Féin now heads both the 'state of the parties' and the leaders' popularity ratings.

Sinn Fein has matched its best result in the lifetime of the current government, rising one point to 37 percent.

Party leader Mary Lou McDonald at 52 percent in the leaders' satisfaction ratings.

The Sunday Times Behaviour and Attitudes poll out today shows Sinn Fein 14 points clear of Fine Gael and 15 points clear of Fianna Fail.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin, who was the most popular party leader in March, April and May, drops back three points to 50 percent.
