Shinzo Abe says there was a 100% agreement that the Games be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has requested that the Tokyo Olympic Games be postponed until the summer of 2021.

The leader has asked International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach for a one-year postponement of games.

Following a conference call with Mr. Bach, he said that there was 100% agreement that the Games be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Coincidentally it would not be the first time a Tokyo Olympic Games has been postponed.

In 1940 the games were called off due to the outbreak of WW2, 80 years ago exactly.
