Some parts of the country could experience up to four times the normal amount of rain over the next week.
Met Eireann has issued the warning, however, no weather alerts are in effect yet.
The wettest conditions are expected in the west and northwest.
Farmers have said they want support from the Government due to the amount of rain over the last few months preventing them from planting crops.
