A Hide and Seek event, initially organised on Facebook, didn't exactly go to plan as police were called to intervene.

Thousands of people had signed up to the event, and while nowhere near that number actually turned up, the store's bosses decided to take action to make sure there wouldn't be any trouble.

According to STV, extra security was brought in and officers from Police Scotland were also on the scene to stop people who turned up to hide in the shop.

Rob Cooper, the IKEA Glasgow store manager, said they had found out about the "unofficial hide and seek Facebook event" being organised to take place, and they worked with the local police "for support."

He added:

"While we appreciate playing games in one of our stores may be appealing to some, we do not allow this kind of activity to take place to ensure we are offering a safe environment and relaxed shopping experience for our customers".
