Public asked not to attend Emergency Departments this Bank Holiday weekend unless absolutely necessary

The HSE says patients will face significant delays

Members of the public are being asked not to attend Emergency Departments in Hospital unless absolutley necessary this bank holiday weekend.

That's according to the HSE who say patients will face significant delays.

People who do need emergency care will be prioritized at EDs.

Dr.Mike O Connor National Clinical Advisor for Acute Hospitals said there are other options available for patients to consider:

"So the point of view of alternatives I suppose is the advice that we always give.

Dr. Mike O'Connor gives these tips:

  • If you're worried contact your GP during normal working hours
  • Outside normal working hours GPs run outside-hour co-operatives
  • Or visit websites mychild.ie and undertheweather.ie
