Rain alerts issued for 4 counties

A status yellow alert for rain in Galway has been issued.

It comes into effect at midnight tonight and lasts for 24 hours.

Meanwhile, an orange warning for rain has been issued for Cork and Kerry.

Waterford is also under a yellow alert.

Those alerts started at midday today and last for 24 hours.

Met Eireann is warning for the potential of localised flooding and wave overtopping.

The RSA has issued an appeal to drivers to slow down and take care in affected counties as motorists will be facing difficult travelling conditions.
